Tesla Owners’ Discontent Because Musk
(New York, 23rd Bloomberg) Michael Lohscheller, CEO of Polestar, a competitor to Tesla, points out that the increasingly active role of Elon Musk in global politics has caused discontent among many Tesla owners, which is creating an opportunity for Polestar.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Lohscheller said, “Many Tesla customers have expressed that they don’t like what’s happening, and it’s crucial to listen carefully to their concerns. I can also tell you that a lot of people have very, very negative views.”
Lohscheller’s Approach to the Opportunity
Lohscheller revealed that he has instructed Polestar’s sales team to focus on dissatisfied Tesla owners in order to secure potential business. He believes that Musk’s activities in the U.S., Germany, and the U.K. could benefit Polestar, providing exactly what the company needs.
Polestar’s Sales Struggles
The high-end electric vehicle manufacturer has seen disappointing sales in the past year, falling well short of the initial estimates from 2021, when the company went public through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC).
Lohscheller’s Criticism of Musk
At 56, Lohscheller acknowledged Musk as a “very successful businessman,” praising his incredible achievements with Tesla. However, Lohscheller did not hold back when criticizing Musk’s strong support for Germany’s far-right Alternative for Germany party. He said, “For Germany, it’s a big deal when a foreigner supports a right-wing political party. Do you want to know my opinion on this? I think it’s completely unacceptable, and it’s arrogance at its finest. It just doesn’t work.
