Returning on 13 November for an Appreciation Dinner, Joining Filmmakers and Creators to Carry Forward The Day We Start Again
Kluang nurtured Kervis; Kervis brought performers together. Working side by side, the artists created films, bringing cinema home to Kluang and giving the world a chance to see his hometown.
(KLUANG) Kluang is where Dr Kervis Soo grew up, and it is a place he hopes to introduce to more people through film. The founder of Xing Yu Group and VYBE, and chairman of the International Chinese Foundation, will hold an appreciation dinner at the Kluang De Jiao Hui Zi Luan Ge on 13 November 2026. Combining the launch of the VYBE Ai SHOW Talent Competition with a media gathering, the occasion will bring together family, teachers, former classmates and film industry partners as he thanks those who have accompanied him along the way.
The gathering will coincide with the final stages of filming for The Day We Start Again. It will present the six films in which Soo has been involved in recent years, alongside international film collaborations, original music, published work, creator platforms and community initiatives, giving relatives, friends and partners a chance to see the progress achieved at different stages.
Now 34, Soo has accumulated approximately 20 years of experience in internet entrepreneurship and community management, from building the Blue Sky Forum himself in 2006 to working in film, AI and the creator industry today. The group’s overall business and brand development spans seven years.
For him, this homecoming is not simply a celebration of business achievements. It is an opportunity to thank those who helped him reach this point.
In 2009, at the age of 17, Soo led a band to compete in the “Ai Show” talent contest at his alma mater, Kluang Chong Hwa High School. Seventeen years later, he is returning with films, music, a book and the VYBE creator platform. He hopes to preserve the name and original spirit of “Ai SHOW” through VYBE’s talent programme and extend the stage opportunities he once received to a new generation of creators.
Four Goals Announced a Year Ago: Film, Music, Book and Charity Plans Take Shape

One focus of the appreciation dinner will be the four initiatives Soo publicly announced on 5 October 2025.
On that date, ZOCCO’s opening ceremony coincided with his birthday dinner and, according to the team’s information, attracted approximately 770 guests. Under the common theme “The Day We Start Again,” he outlined plans to make a film, create original songs, publish a book and organise a charity festival.
One year on, all four initiatives have begun to deliver tangible results.
On 6 October 2026, The Day We Start Again, jointly presented by Xing Yu Group and VYBE, officially began filming. Two original songs, The Day We Start Again and After Waking Up, were released in succession. Production and printing of his first book of the same title were completed on 5 October, with arrangements for its placement at POPULAR bookstores under preparation. The 11th Malaysia Charity Festival, themed around starting again, had already taken place on 5 June.
As early as March 2026, the team had publicly presented its four directions—film, music, books and charity—at the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market. Their progression from proposals displayed at the event to works and activities subsequently launched marks an important phase in Soo’s development over the past year.
The film The Day We Start Again remains in production. Post-production and distribution will proceed according to the project’s timetable, with a targeted release in 2027. Soo said that, although much work remains, he hopes these developments will show his supporters how the goals he once announced are gradually being put into practice.
Expanding into Film Through Investment, Presentation and Producing Roles Across Six Projects
Film has become an important part of Soo’s business activities in recent years.
According to project records provided by Soo and his team, since 2023 he and companies associated with him have participated in six films in different capacities, including investment, film presentation, producing, co-production, regional distribution support and story development: Indera, The Missing Child, Blooms of Happiness, Kungfu Juniors, Mad Mad World and The Day We Start Again.
These productions span Malay-language cinema, family-oriented Lunar New Year films, suspense and cross-border projects. Some have been released in Malaysian cinemas, some have been selected for international film festivals, while others have entered production.
For The Missing Child, Soo served as a presenting producer, with Zocco Group involved in presenting the film and Lomo Pictures handling production. Filming began in 2023 under director Ryon Lee, with a cast including Xu Jiao, Zhang Jingyun, Yuan Teng, Shaw Yin Yin, Lo Chun Shun and Olio Tan (Chen Yingheng), among others.
Indera is among the Malay-language films in which he invested. Directed by Woo Ming Jin and starring Shaheizy Sam and Azira Shafinaz, the film had its world premiere at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival in South Korea in 2024. It was also selected as an opening film for the seventh Malaysia International Film Festival and the 61st Asia-Pacific Film Festival. Azira Shafinaz received the Asia-Pacific Film Festival’s Best Supporting Actress award for her performance. The film subsequently opened in Malaysian cinemas on 7 August 2025.
Another family-oriented festive film, Blooms of Happiness, listed Soo among its co-presenting producers. Starring Ah Niu, Hong Huifang and Vivienne Oon, the film opened in Malaysia on 28 January 2025.
In distribution, Xing Yu also helped promote the release of Clifton Ko’s Kungfu Juniors in Malaysia and Singapore. According to materials from the filmmakers, it received the FPA Asia-Pacific Award for the Promotion of Chinese Culture at the 62nd Asia-Pacific Film Festival and served as the opening film of the third Malaysia-China Film Exchange Festival in 2026.
Mad Mad World marked another step in Soo’s involvement in film production. He served as a presenting producer and producer, while Lomo Pictures handled production. Directed by Clifton Ko, the film features Loletta Lee , Hugo Ng , Lin Min-Chen and Yuan Teng. According to festival materials supplied by the team, it was selected as the opening film of the third Toronto Chinese Canadian Film Festival and listed for a world-premiere screening on 16 October 2026.
The newly launched The Day We Start Again brings Soo beyond film investment and presentation into overall project planning and collaborative script development.
The film is jointly presented by Xing Yu Group and VYBE and produced by Lomo Pictures. Soo is a presenting producer, participates in overall planning and script co-creation, and says he is financing the film himself. Drawing on his experience of business setbacks, fresh starts and personal bonds, he hopes the story will reflect the lives of ordinary people.
The cast includes K Lou (Lay Kar Heng), Bruce Chiu, Charlene An Yu Chin, Leonard Lee, Yuan Teng, Kyo Chen, Thian Siew Kim, Olio Tan (Chen Yingheng), Henn and Teh Bee Seng (Xiao Miao), among others. Filming is planned in Kuala Lumpur and Kluang, with additional shooting proposed for Luang Prabang, Laos. The targeted release year is 2027.
Beyond financing and project planning, Soo has helped coordinate casting resources, locations, transportation, accommodation and the production team.
Through the appreciation dinner, he hopes to introduce his film collaborators to relatives and friends in his hometown, while thanking the cast and crew before the film reaches audiences.
A Partnership with Lomo Pictures in Its Tenth Year Extends Film and International Collaboration

As film projects grew, Soo’s relationship with Malaysian production company Lomo Pictures expanded from individual titles to corporate and equity-level participation. According to him, the equity arrangements involve parties in the Xing Yu network and partners including Duo Duo Coffee, helping establish a longer-term foundation for future productions.
Lomo Pictures was co-founded in 2016 by Aron Koh and Ryon Lee and marks its tenth anniversary in 2026. Both founders had accumulated filmmaking and screenwriting experience before setting up the company.
Works associated with Lomo and its principal creatives include The Dream Boyz, Show Me Your Love, Small Town Heroes, Guang, The King of Musang King and Blooms of Happiness. They have also participated in the production, writing and distribution of other films.
Small Town Heroes won seven awards at the 32nd Malaysia Film Festival, while Indera received finalist nominations in seven categories at the 35th Malaysia Film Festival. These are achievements of Lomo and its associated creative teams, and form part of the professional foundation for Soo’s subsequent film partnerships.
Lomo also took part in organising the 61st Asia-Pacific Film Festival and was selected as the official organiser of the 62nd edition. According to the team’s planned schedule, the 63rd Asia-Pacific Film Festival and fourth Malaysia-China Film Cultural Festival are expected to take place concurrently in Kuala Lumpur in March 2027.
Their collaboration also extends to short-form drama and AI content development.
At the opening of the third Malaysia-China Film Exchange Festival in June 2026, Ryon Lee, representing Lomo, signed a memorandum of understanding with Soo on a strategic collaboration for 100 Malaysia-China short dramas, combining live-action actors, creators and AI technology in content development.
Soo hopes to build sustained partnerships for film projects through professional teams, creator platforms and technical resources, beyond simply investing in and presenting individual titles.
Hong Kong FILMART Appearance Advances Cross-Border Partnerships and AI Entertainment Plans
In March 2026, Soo led his team to the 30th Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART), bringing film concepts, original music, AI-generated imagery and original intellectual-property projects to an international film-industry setting.
According to the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, FILMART ran from 17 to 20 March and brought together more than 790 exhibitors from 38 countries and regions.
Soo said that, with introductions from veteran filmmaker Manfred Wong and support from partners, the team completed preparations in less than ten days. Its presentation featured The Day We Start Again, songs, music videos, book plans and physical collectibles based on original characters.
In addition to project presentations, the Hong Kong visit led to partnership announcements and industry exchanges.
According to a report published on China Daily’s website on 23 March 2026 and credited to Eastday, AIMOTION and Xing Yu Group’s VSTAR platform announced a strategic partnership at the AIMOTION Global Strategy Launch on 19 March. The event also included an announcement concerning an equity exchange between Xing Yu Group and Caviar (Hong Kong) Holdings Group.
The report named Soo and Wang Jingde, founder of Caviar (Hong Kong) Holdings Group, among those involved, and noted the presence of film industry figures including Manfred Wong and Benny Chan Ho Man. The occasion allowed Soo to connect with film, AI-content and business professionals from Hong Kong and mainland China.
On 22 March, he was also invited to the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild annual awards event, where he met people involved in directing, filmmaking and distribution.
Soo expressed particular thanks to Manfred Wong for his arrangements during the Hong Kong trip, which enabled him to meet and take a photograph with Hong Kong entrepreneur Peter Lam . He values opportunities to learn from senior figures and hopes to turn such exchanges into projects that can gradually be implemented.
For Soo, attending FILMART was not merely about presenting Malaysian projects internationally. It was also a chance to establish contacts across disciplines and create opportunities for future productions and platform partnerships.
From ZOCCO to VYBE: Developing an MCN and AI Creator Ecosystem

Alongside film, Soo has continued developing digital entertainment businesses centred on creators.
According to the group’s business history, 2026 marks the seventh year of overall business and brand development. The group says Xing Yu Group Berhad has been established as the headquarters and business-coordination entity overseeing content, technology and creator operations. The Xing Yu ecosystem now extends across multi-channel networks (MCNs), AI technology, entertainment platforms, media communications, education and training, and film and video content development.
Within this ecosystem, Zocco Group Sdn. Bhd. runs ZOCCO’s MCN and livestreaming activities, including creator recruitment, training, talent representation and livestream operations. ECA Global (M) Sdn. Bhd. operates the VYBE application and website. VSTAR Media Sdn. Bhd. participates in the platform’s co-founding and development; AIMCN Sdn. Bhd. focuses on AI, MCN and creator training. XY Code provides IT and AI development support, while PRISM MEDIA works in media, public relations, SEO and brand communications.
Soo said ZOCCO and its early partners introduced livestream-host training and operating practices from China’s Douyin ecosystem to Malaysia, offering equipment, studios, training and operational support to help newcomers begin creating content.
As its MCN business developed an operating foundation, he initiated AIMCN to combine experience in creator development, content production and agency operations with artificial intelligence, extending into short dramas, films, music and digital platforms.
He describes his career direction as an “initiator of an ASEAN AI entertainment creation ecosystem,” with the aim of connecting creators, film companies, technology teams and commercial resources across Southeast Asia and other regions, using Malaysia as a base.
VYBE Malaysia officially launched on 16 September 2026 at the “XingYu Grand Honours × The Shining Award 2026” event.
According to event information, guests included Tengku Dato’ Dr. Hishammuddin Zaizi, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Dr. M. Kayveas, and film and creative practitioners Clifton Ko, Ryon Lee, Aron Koh and Yuan Teng. The event brought together partners from film, technology, education, business and the creator sector, with platform introductions and partnership signings.
Event materials state that Yayasan Dato’ Malaysia appointed Soo as an adviser for creator development and digital innovation strategy. Certificates were also displayed for specific projects involving an AI creator operating system and the recruitment and onboarding of 1,000 Douyin livestream creators within 60 days.
The certificates relate to those particular systems and recruitment projects and represent achievements presented by the team in technology applications and creator development.
In education, VYBE has collaborated with Lincoln Professional Academy (LPA) on education, creator training and AI applications. Representatives connected with Universiti Malaya witnessed part of the event, which also presented education-related cooperation directions involving UM-Wales.
Other partners named include Yayasan Dato’ Malaysia, TNCSEA, Media Prism, AI Robo, V-STAR, WaveMind, Monochrome and QR Fashion.
Soo also hopes that exchanges with Andrew Lim and the QR team, as well as Jeff Yew and Monochrome, will further connect livestreaming, business content, the digital economy and creator opportunities.
He hopes VYBE can become a platform linking content production, talent development and commercial partnerships, offering creators pathways from livestreams and short videos into music, short dramas and films rather than a single moment of exposure.
Bringing Experienced Film Leadership into Group Management and Industry Partnerships
As the business develops, Soo has invited professionals with film and digital-industry experience to take part in group governance and project development.
Among them is Dato’ Kamil Othman, who serves as chairman of Xing Yu Group and VYBE.
Dato’ Kamil previously served as chairman and director-general of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), and as a vice-president responsible for creative multimedia at the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). His experience spans film production, creative multimedia and cross-border partnerships.
Soo said the relevant appointment documents have been signed. He hopes the experience of senior industry figures will strengthen the group’s expertise in filmmaking, content development, talent cultivation and international cooperation.
In his view, developing a business beyond its early stages requires more than the founder’s personal commitment. It also requires clear team responsibilities, professional management and mechanisms that can sustain projects.
From Seven-Figure Business Investment to a Major Concert: Cross-Sector Experience

Before entering MCN, AI and film, Soo had accumulated years of experience in product sales, team management and running businesses.
He recalled representing overseas products before founding NewGen and later establishing eCare independently after differences arose over business philosophy and direction.
According to Soo, he is the sole founder of eCare and invested a seven-figure sum in Malaysian ringgit in the company. ApplePlus101 / Apple+101 was its flagship product, and he recruited a chief executive officer (CEO) and a chief marketing officer (CMO) to manage the business.
In its first month, the team he led generated approximately RM1 million in sales. However, changing market conditions meant that earlier models of product sales, distributor training and team expansion did not sustain the same growth, prompting him to reassess the business and the way teams were developed.
He also independently financed a large-scale concert.
The Different Forms of Love Concert was held at Mega Star Arena in Kuala Lumpur on 15 December 2024, featuring performers Lucas, Dior, Priscilla Abby and Daniel Cheah, among others, with Vivien and Vincerne as hosts. Public event information recorded an audience of approximately 3,000.
Soo said the concert was organised independently by a company wholly owned by him. He provided the funding personally and led his full-time team in planning and executing the event.
During preparations, a planned performer dropped out, affecting sponsorship and ticket sales. At one point, he faced the possibility of losing RM500,000.
Even so, he chose to bear the risk and proceed with the performance he had promised audiences and partners.
With assistance from MASCOM and other organisations, the concert also welcomed charity groups, children with special needs and people who rarely had the chance to attend a large live performance.
Bringing together a commercial event, team execution and community invitations, the concert became valuable experience for Soo’s later entertainment projects and content partnerships.
Original Music and a First Book Turn Personal Experiences into Creative Works Alongside his business and film projects, Soo formally released original music and a publishing project in 2026.
The two original songs, The Day We Start Again and After Waking Up, were performed by Raymond and Wu Yuqi (stage name: Lillian), respectively. Soo is credited with lyrics and music on the songs’ promotional covers.
According to Soo, the songs draw on experiences from different stages of his life. Professional singers performed them, while their music videos and visual production also incorporated the team’s AI capabilities.
The team has also developed the original IP character Xiao Shi and the ZOCCO mascot through visual design, event displays and physical souvenirs, giving the songs, imagery and original characters different ways to express the creative journey.
His first book, The Day We Start Again, was completed and printed on 5 October 2026. It reflects on growth, entrepreneurship and choices made in life.
To commemorate his birthday date, an initial print run of 1,005 copies was produced and, according to the team, has sold out. For bookstore distribution, the team is planning an in-store listing at POPULAR and related media activities on a date between 21 and 24 October, subject to final arrangements.
Through film, songs, books and original IP, Soo hopes to transform his experiences into creative works in different formats and allow those who support him to see the outcomes of the plans.
Continuing a Commitment to Giving: From Kluang Schools to the International Chinese Foundation

Community support is another important theme of the appreciation dinner.
Soo recalled visiting homes for the elderly and orphanages with friends when he was around 18 or 19, bringing a guitar to sing and perform and spending time with residents and children.
He said his father, Soo Ah Hoy, had long been involved with Kluang’s De Jiao association, shaping his understanding of charity, social responsibility and how to treat other people.
Over the years he has contributed supplies and volunteered through the De Jiao association, welfare organisations and community channels, with some initiatives documented publicly.
A newspaper clipping dated 27 June 2020 recorded his donation of 20,000 medical masks to Kluang Chong Hwa High School. A school post dated 10 September that year recorded his donation of ten air purifiers for teachers’ offices.
Records from Kluang De Jiao Hui Zi Luan Ge also documented his sponsorship of 250 packages of supplies for families in need. Records from the Yong Peng community in 2021 included assistance comprising 100 bags of rice, each weighing five kilogrammes.
He subsequently initiated an education assistance fund in the names of his father, Soo Ah Hoy, and mother, Tan Ah Lin, working with schools and community organisations in hopes of making education support a longer-term effort.
At the ZOCCO opening in 2025, he also proposed plans for a Xing Yu charitable fund.
The 11th Malaysia Charity Festival took place on 5 June 2026 with a theme centred on spreading love, the courage to begin again and moving forward with purpose. Its programme combined recognition of charitable figures and brands, cultural performances and social care.
According to the team, approximately 400 guests from business, charity, culture and creator communities attended. Soo received a Special Contribution Award, while associated brands and organisations received annual awards recognising charitable brands or organisations.
As chairman of the International Chinese Foundation (ICF), he hopes to extend his personal charity work into education, cultural activities and community partnerships.
He has said: “Charity and public welfare are the final lifelong cause I wish to pursue.”
He hopes to continue supporting education and communities regardless of how his businesses develop, carrying forward the kindness shown by his parents through practical action.
Seventeen Years Later, Ai SHOW Returns: From Contestant to Creating a Stage for Others
Another major part of the 13 November appreciation dinner will be the launch of the VYBE Ai SHOW Talent Competition.
The event has personal significance for Soo.
In 2009, when he was 17 and studying at Kluang Chong Hwa High School, he led his band in the school’s “Ai Show” talent contest, gaining experience in stage performance, event planning and teamwork.
He was a contestant then. Seventeen years later, he hopes VYBE will offer more young people opportunities to perform and create content.
According to the schedule released by the team, promotional activities for the 2026 VYBE Ai SHOW Talent Competition began on 10 October, with the contest scheduled to start officially on 11 November. A launch and media gathering will be held in Kluang on 13 November alongside the appreciation dinner.
Entries will be accepted until 11 January 2027, with the overall champion and final results planned for announcement on 22 February.
The competition covers six areas: singing, dance, musical instruments, rap, variety talent and creative short videos. It aims to connect participants with training, content production and business collaboration resources so they can continue developing after the contest.
Soo hopes the competition will be more than a one-off talent showcase and will allow participants to use their work to gain access to professional training, filming and project partnerships.
Electric Vehicles, Gold and Travel Prizes: Emphasis on Delivering Commitments
Existing promotional materials for VYBE Ai SHOW Talent Competition list a fully paid electric vehicle valued by the organiser at RM99,800, opportunities to travel to the Maldives, VYBE GOLD rewards and gifts from brand partners.
Soo said he helped conceptualise the vehicle’s exterior, interior and VYBE branding, which were then customised in collaboration with suppliers on the basis of an existing manufacturer’s vehicle model.
Apart from the new contest, the team says it has delivered a number of rewards from earlier events.
According to follow-up materials from the team, the first VYBE-branded electric vehicle drawn at the 16 September event has been handed over, and its recipient shared footage of receiving the vehicle.
For gold rewards, some livestream creators who attended the 16 September event received credits to their VYBE GOLD gold wallets in October. These deliveries relate to the earlier event and are separate from prizes for the ongoing Ai SHOW contest. Physical gold redemption and transactions remain subject to the platform’s official rules.
Travel to the Maldives continues Soo’s earlier experience with incentives for team members.
He said he has visited the Maldives three times and had previously taken teams there during the NewGen and eCare years. He hopes to turn shared travel experiences into opportunities for creators to exchange ideas and produce content.
Current competition materials mention travel arrangements for 15 winners. Specific itineraries and eligibility conditions will be governed by the official competition rules.
He hopes creator rewards will go beyond cash and gifts to include training, personal IP development, music production, publishing and business collaboration, so participants can continue to access opportunities once events end.
From the Blue Sky Forum to Xing Yu Group: Returning to the Place Where It Began
Although his work now spans film, AI and digital entertainment, Soo regards his early communitybuilding experience and hometown roots as essential to his career.
Born on 5 October 1992, he grew up in Kluang.
He recalled trying small-scale trading at seven and working and learning in a barbershop while still at school at 15.
In 2004, he joined the Cari online forum under the name “Cai Yu,” later adopting “Blue Sky” as his online alias. In 2006, he founded the Blue Sky Forum at BlueSky06.com and says he still personally holds the domain name.
He taught himself technologies including Discuz!, PHP, MySQL, FTP and HTML to build and run the site, gradually gaining experience in community organising, content management and team coordination.
These skills later formed part of the foundation for his work in livestream-host training, MCNs and creator platforms.
At Kluang Chong Hwa High School, he served as the guitar club’s planning leader and chief instructor, responsible for event planning, rehearsals, instruction and leading teams in competitions, as well as taking part in school performances.
Former classmates recall that even after they moved to different places, Soo often kept in touch and organised reunions, maintaining friendships over many years.
From building online communities to managing livestreaming teams, arranging film collaborations and developing creator platforms, he sees a continuous theme in his work: bringing people from different fields together so they can make projects and works collectively.
From “Cai Yu” to “Blue Sky” and then Xing Yu, Soo sums up his guiding beliefs in five personal reminders:
“With a goal in mind, I have travelled from Blue Sky to Xing Yu, always letting the results speak for themselves.”
“If I don’t get what I want, I will get something better.”
“My perseverance comes from other people’s support.”
“Good or bad, this too shall pass.”
“You have to keep dreaming. What if it comes true?”
He believes that behind every completed project are family members, teachers, friends, colleagues, partners and professional teams who contributed help and support.
He now hopes to reduce his day-to-day involvement in frontline tasks, allowing professional management teams to assume clearer responsibilities and decision-making authority, while devoting more time to long-term planning, family and charity.
From building websites and designing brands to writing songs and planning films, Soo prefers to take part personally before guiding his team through execution. He considers “show people how to do it, then do it together” a leadership responsibility. Clearer division of duties should prevent the company from depending on its founder for every detail. He says compliance with the law and respect for others’ rights are non-negotiable principles when selecting projects.
13 November Appreciation Dinner in Kluang Brings Together Teachers, Old Friends and Film Partners
The choice of the Kluang De Jiao Hui Zi Luan Ge as the venue reflects both Soo’s hometown roots and memories of his late father’s participation in local community and De Jiao activities.
Invited guests will include teachers and classmates from SJK(C) Pa Yai and Kluang Chong Hwa High School, family, long-time friends, and collaborators from film, technology, media, the creator sector and charitable organisations.
The event is planned to include displays tracing film projects and expressing appreciation, featuring records of the six films with which Soo has been involved, productions by the Lomo team, his original songs and book, cooperation at Hong Kong FILMART and charity activities.
Memories of his father, school photographs and messages from friends will also form an important part of the evening.
Soo hopes the occasion will introduce his hometown friends and family to the partners who have helped bring his film and business projects to life, while showing collaborators from different industries where his journey began.
The invitation-only event is scheduled for Friday, 13 November 2026. Guests will be seated at 7 p.m.; appreciation speeches, networking and performances are scheduled from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with vegetarian hospitality provided.
The venue is Kluang De Jiao Hui Zi Luan Ge, Jalan Lambak, 86000 Kluang, Johor. The VYBE Ai SHOW Talent Competition launch and a media gathering will also take place that day, with interview arrangements to be confirmed by the organisers.
From performing on his school’s stage as a 17-year-old contestant to participating in film investment, filmmaking, international collaborations and an AI entertainment platform years later, Soo has chosen to return to his hometown as his career enters another phase.
He is coming back not only with his own works but also with a wish to show those who gave him opportunities, support and encouragement what they have helped make possible over the years.
For him, the dinner is not about displaying how far one person has travelled. It is about remembering those who travelled alongside him and passing on the support he received so that others may have opportunities to begin again.
“You have to keep dreaming. What if it comes true?”
This long-standing reminder still guides Soo as he faces the next chapter of his business and life. Bringing cinema back to the place where he grew up is an act of gratitude; bringing films and creators to a wider stage is the next step he hopes to pursue.
